This morning the world belongs to the birds
They sing with relief as humanity shuts down
It belongs to the tiniest blades of grass
Dressing concrete in an emerald gown
It belongs to the deer on city streets
Not living in fear but free to roam
It belongs to the bees reclaiming the pollen
From flowers free to grow
It belongs to the badgers, mercilessly persecuted
By humans for spreading disease
It belongs to the fish and the oceans, tired
From continuous pollution by human beings
This morning Mother Earth is teaching us
We're not as important as we think we are
All the money you print wont save you
Once her anger is unleashed near and far
All we find meaningful is worthless
God-like celebrities and capitalist shit
Penniless or millionaire, we're in the same boat
When the fight back by nature begins
Now we blindly scurry, searching for answers
When all along the answer was respect
Respect for a planet we borrow
But abuse while ignoring the effects
This little world is all we have
An isolated rock orbiting a sun
Today Mother Earth has grounded us
To think about what we've done.
